Mouse Mayhem and a New Chapter for My 240sx Convertible

Posted by Jeff the Web Guy on 10th Oct 2025

Hey everyone, Jeff here from Wiring Specialties. I wanted to share a personal story about my long-time project car — my 1993 Nissan 240sx Convertible, rocking an S13 SR20DET engine swap. I’ve owned this rare S13 chassis since 2006, and over the years, it’s become a rolling collection of all my favorite parts and upgrades. It’s more than just a car — it’s a time capsule of my journey in the import scene.

But recently, things took a turn. And not the good kind.

When Mice Attack

So, I had some unexpected visitors in the garage. Mice. Yep, the little critters found their way into the car. And while they didn’t go full demolition mode, one of them did leave a nasty surprise — a rodent bathroom pee stain. Doesn’t sound like much, right? Wrong.

That was enough to destroy my ECU harness connector and the ROM-tuned JDM ECU I’d been running since day one. I didn’t even know it had happened until a year later, when I finally got back to working on the car. The damage had been sitting there, quietly wrecking my setup.

The Aftermath

When I tried to remove the ECU from the harness connector, things got worse. Pins were stuck, bent, pulled — one even snapped clean off. It was heartbreaking. I started weighing my options: Should I try to repair it? Pull all the pins, replace the connector, carefully solder the broken pin back onto the ECU?

I mean, I could do it. I work at Wiring Specialties — we’ve got all the parts. But here’s the thing: when it comes to your ECU and harness, you need absolute confidence. And after this mess, I’d lost mine.

Time for an Upgrade

So I made the call. I picked up a LINK Monsoon Wire-In ECU and decided to hand the reins over to the expert techs at Wiring Specialties. They’re going to convert my harness to work with the LINK ECU and integrate some new sensors while they’re at it.

If YOU need harness service on a PRO Series harness, from an ECU connector swap to adding Drive by Wire (DBW) please contact Sales for a custom quote.

It’s a fresh start for the 240sx, and honestly, I’m excited. Sometimes, setbacks push you toward upgrades you’ve been putting off. This one just happened to come with tiny footprints and a whole lot of frustration.

Stay tuned — I’ll be posting updates as the conversion comes together. If you’ve ever had a rodent ruin your ride, you’re not alone. And if you’re thinking about stepping up to a standalone ECU, I’ll let you know how the LINK Monsoon performs once it’s dialed in.

Until next time — keep your garages sealed and your harnesses clean.
